Quran Competition Winners Awarded in Germany

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The winners of the 9th edition of a Quran competition for Muslims in Europe were awarded at the closing ceremony.

The competition kicked off in Hamburg, Germany, on Friday and concluded on Sunday.

The Germany Dar-ol-Quran, affiliated with the Islamic Center Hamburg annually organizes the European Quran contest, which is aimed at promoting the Quranic culture and teachings, identifying and nurturing Quranic talents, and enhancing unity in the Quranic community of Europe.

More than 300 contenders from countries like Germany, Denmark, Norway, Italy and Sweden competed in different categories of the Quranic event in two age groups and two separate sections for men and women.

Quran recitation, Quran memorization, Quranic concepts and Adhan (call to prayer) were the categories of the competition.

Mohsen Jafari (recitation for men), Mahnaz Safari (Tarteel recitation for women), Sahar Ahmadi (Tarteel recitation for girls), Fatemeh Assadi (memorization for girls), Samaneh Hosseini (memorization for women), Kumeyl Farahi (Adhan for men), Ahmad Meytham Heydari (Adhan for boys), Mohammad Hossein Yusefi (recitation for boys), and Ghaniya Haq Hassan (Quranic concepts for women) were the top winners of this edition.  

A number of internationally recognized Quran experts serve as members of the competition’s panel of arbiters.
