TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 30th edition of the Quran competition for Iran’s Basij forces will be organized in five stages.

Quran Competition for Iran’s Basij Forces

The first round will be held at the mosques and Basij bases level and then there will be the city, provincial, semifinal and final rounds.

Registration for the contest, in both men and women sections, started on Wednesday and will end on July 11.

The first stage will then start after the conclusion of the registration process.

According to the plans, the top contenders in the first four rounds will compete in the finals, slated to be held during the Basij week in November.

Last year, more than 120,000 members of the Basij force took part in the 29th edition of the contest.

Basij is a paramilitary volunteer force established in 1979 on the order of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The force consists of often young Iranians, who have volunteered, with a strong sense of fidelity to both the Islamic system and the religious beliefs.
