The Prophet’s Mosque in Medina is hosting the contest, Jarida ar-Riyadh daily reported.
A total of thirty contenders have made it to the final round, which will run for three days.
They are representing the six PGCC countries, namely Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait.
They compete in three categories, namely memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed, memorization of 20 consecutive Juzes (parts) of the Quran with Tajweed, and memorization of ten Juzes of the Quran with Tajweed.

There is also a category of memorization of Hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Winners will be announced and awarded at the closing ceremony on Wednesday.
There has been a significant rise in Quranic activities, including Quran compeitions, in the PGCC member states in recent years.
