In the aftermath of the expiration of the humanitarian truce in Gaza on Friday, Ezzat al-Resheq, a member of the Hamas political bureau, has squarely placed blame on the Israeli occupation.
According to al-Resheq, claims made by the Israeli military that Hamas violated the terms of the truce are deemed by Hamas as an attempt to rationalize the resumption of the "genocidal war" against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
The truce, which ended at 07:00 am local time on Friday, was swiftly followed by renewed Israeli aggression across Gaza, marked by indiscriminate bombings.
Al-Resheq dismissed on Sunday Israeli allegations of Hamas breaking the truce as unfounded, asserting that such claims are designed to obscure what Hamas perceives as the Israeli regime's premeditated plan to resume aggressive actions, including “barbaric” bombings and raids, leading to more devastating casualties among defenseless civilians in Gaza.

Furthermore, al-Resheq said that Hamas had expressed intentions to extend the truce, placing the blame for the failure to do so on Israel. He claimed that the regime rejected offers from mediators, exacerbating the situation.
Palestinian officials report a grim toll, with more than 800 people killed since Saturday, while the death toll in Gaza has reached at least 15,500 since October 7. Meanwhile, Israeli forces conducted overnight and early morning raids, arresting additional Palestinians across the occupied West Bank.
