UAE Wraps Up 24th Bint Maktoum Quran Contest

IQNA – The 24th edition of the Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Holy Quran competition in the United Arab Emirates concluded in a ceremony in Dubai.

The An-Nahdha Women’s Society in Dubai hosted the closing ceremony, during which a documentary on the activities of the Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum’s charity and Quranic activities was screened.

Then, Ahmed al-Zahed, a member of the organizing committee and spokesman of the competition, in a speech described the Quranic event as one of the main Quran competitions for Emirati men and women and residents who are memorizers of the Quran.

He noted that the Dubai International Holy Quran Award organizes the contest with the participation of memorizers from Quranic institutes all over the Persian Gulf Arab country.

The purpose of the contest is to promote memorization of the Holy Book and honor Quran memorizers and also prepare the top contenders for taking part in international Quran contests, he stated.

Also addressing the ceremony was Sheikh Ibrahim al-Mansouri, head of the panel of arbiters, who praised the high level of the competition.

He said one of the fruitful outcomes of organizing the Quranic event has been the spread of Quran memorization centers in the UAE.

Forty male memorizers and 51 female memorizers competed in two separate sections in this edition of the contest, which featured memorization of the Quran at different levels.
