8th Int’l Quran Contest for Students: Winners’ Names Revealed

IQNA – The organizing committee of the 8th international Quran competition for school students announced the winners.

The contest was jointly held by Iran’s Education Ministry and the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization this week, concurrent with Iran’s 40th International Holy Quran Competition.

The contenders competed in the categories of Quran recitation and memorization of the entire Quran in two separate sections for girls and boys.

According to the panel of judges, Mohanna Qanbari Shirzili from Iran has bagged the top prize in the girls’ Quran memorization category.

Diyatara Andia Busu from Senegal and Maimanua Munir az-Zaman from Bangladesh have come second and third, respectively.

Asma Falaki, the top winner in the girls’ recitation, is also from the host country with Reyhaneh Moghaddas from Afghanistan and Zahra Taghi al-Matlashi from Iraq coming second and third.

In the boys’ section, Iran’s Mehdi Akbari Zarin came first. The runner-up is Muhammad Abu Bakr from Pakistan and the third-place winner is Mushfiq Rahman from Bangladesh.

The top winner in memorization of the entire Quran is Bangladeshi student Ahmad Bashir. Seyed Mohammad Sadeq Hosseini from Iran will go home with the second prize and Abdullahi Abdullahi Giray from Nigeria is the winner of the third rank.

After the preliminary round, a total of 30 students from 15 countries qualified for the final round of the competition.

The finalists were from Afghanistan, Indonesia, Uganda, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Turkey, Tunisia, Senegal, Iraq, Iran, Oman, Gambia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and New Zealand.
