This service is particularly beneficial during the last ten days of Ramadan, a period of high visitor influx, Zawya reported on Monday.
The “occupancy status of prayer halls” service, available in Arabic, English, and Urdu, provides real-time updates on the capacity of the mosque. It allows visitors to view the occupancy status of 12 designated prayer areas within the mosque and its eastern, western, and northern expansions.
The service also provides information on the capacity of prayer spaces for women on the eastern and western sides inside the mosque, as well as in the eastern, western, and northern courtyards, the new western courtyards, and the roof.

The occupancy status is displayed in four colors, indicating whether a prayer hall is “available”, “semi-busy”, “busy”, or “unavailable”.
Saudi authorities say the service not only facilitates the smooth movement of worshippers in and out of the Prophet’s Mosque and its courtyards but also aids in the implementation of operational plans to manage crowds during peak times.
