IQNA – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman underlined the country’s indisputable right to respond to the Zionist regime’s recent act of aggression.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei

Speaking to reporters at a press conference in Tehran on Monday, Esmail Baghaei was asked about messages to Iran urging the country to avoid retaliating against the Israeli regime’s aerial strikes.

He said there are messages constantly exchanged in the field of diplomacy, especially when there is tension, but the Islamic Republic of Iran will never renounce its right to respond (to aggression), which is a right of all UN member states.

He added that talks are being exchanged but nevertheless Iran will be decisive in its response and will act as decided by the country’s Armed Forces and officials.

The Israeli regime’s assault targeted military installations in three Iranian provinces and claimed the lives of four Iranian Army forces.

Elsewhere at the Monday press conference, Baghaei referred to the 79th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations and said it is a good time to assess the UN’s achievements and failures.

He said over the past year, since Israel began its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, the UN has failed to bring to account the United States and the Zionist regime.

He noted that the Israeli genocide is not limited to Gaza but is taking place in the West Bank as well.

Pointing to Iran’s active diplomacy, he added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has made extensive efforts at international circles and organizations to put an end to the genocide in Gaza
