The ministry wrote on its official website that his Quran recitations are a source of inspiration for future generations.

He left behind an unparalleled legacy of recitations that reflect the beauty of the voice, melody, and Maqamat (recitation techniques), it said.

The ministry highlighted the exceptional talent of Sheikh Mustafa Ismail in blending the rules of Tajweed with the science of recitation and musical modes.

It stated that the prominent qari was able to convey the grandeur of Quranic concepts to the hearts of his listeners, making him one of the innovators in this art.

The ministry called on everyone to listen to the recitations of Sheikh Mustafa Ismail, which continue to be shared on the Quran Radio as a model of innovation and spiritual impact.

The ministry also emphasized that the memory of Sheikh Mustafa Ismail remains alive in the minds of the Muslim community, recognizing him as an exceptional Quranic figure who greatly enriched the heritage of recitation and Quranic creativity.

Sheikh Mustafa Ismail was a qari who introduced an innovative style of recitation in which he somehow would illustrate the concepts of the verses through his beautiful voice.

He was born on June 17, 1905, in a village called Mit Gazal near the city of Tanta in Egypt’s Gharbia Governorate.

His parents named him Mustafa Muhammad Mursi Ismail. His father, who was a farmer, sent him to a Quran school headed by Sheikh Abdul Rahman Abulainain to memorize the Quran.

Mustafa Ismail managed to learn the entire Quran by heart at the age of 10.

He then started learning Quran recitation and Tajweed principles with Sheikh Idris Fakhir.

He first recited the Quran before a crowd at the age of 14. Those who heard his recitation at the Atif Mosque in Tanta were amazed by his beautiful performance and encouraged him to continue on the path of Quran recitation.

He did so by going to Cairo and learning more in the field from prominent Qari Sheikh Muhammad Rafa’at.
