IQNA – The Grand Mosque in the holy city of Mecca is hosting an exhibition on the history of the Kaaba.

The 'First House' exposition offers visitors a unique insight into history of the Holy Kaaba.

Presented in 10 languages, the "First House" exhibit sheds light on the history of the construction of the Kaaba in different eras, starting from the time of the Prophet Abraham (AS) until the present day.

Muslims all over the world face the Kaaba when they pray.

The exhibit at an expansion of the Grand Mosque offers visitors and pilgrims a unique opportunity to retrace the building stages of the Holy Kaaba through visual displays, graphics, artifacts and interactive screens.

Organized by the General Authority for Care of the Two Holy Mosques during Ramadan, the event is part of efforts to introduce Muslims to the history of the Grand Mosque and its landmarks, using interactive technologies.

Key themes of the exposition focus on the construction of the Holy Kaaba, the changes it has undergone over the history, the tools used in its maintenance and washing, and the stages of its cloth cover making.

Ramadan traditionally marks the peak season of the Umrah or minor pilgrimage in the Grand Mosque amid stepped-up preparations from authorities to cope with the influx of worshippers.
