World’s Longest Handwritten Quran Gifted to Imam Hussein Holy Shrine

IQNA – The world’s longest handwritten copy of the Quran was gifted to the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala, Iraq.

During a ceremony in Karbala, Bahrain’s Al-Muharraq intellectual and cultural center presented it to the holy shrine’s custodian, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalayi.

This copy measures 1,250 meters in length and is written on a paper scroll wound on two reels, left and right.

It is the longest handwritten Quran in the world created at this size and using this method.

The Al-Muharraq center hopes that this Quran will be recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records so that all the people in the world will know the importance and sanctity of the Quran.

The center says the Quran is a response to hostile attacks against the word of God and is an achievement to gain divine favor and serve the religion of Islam.

The copy was created in the days of the coronavirus pandemic and finished on 23rd of Ramadan 1443 (April 25, 2022), according to the center.
