Hamilton police reported receiving calls at approximately 2:15 p.m. regarding multiple people being stabbed during what was described as a physical confrontation that began outside the mosque on York Boulevard and subsequently moved inside, according to CBC News.
Authorities indicated that the individuals involved were acquainted with each other and, at this stage of the investigation, the attack is not believed to have been motivated by hate.
Emergency services transported one person to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Another individual was treated on site, while a third later arrived at a hospital independently with similarly non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators are currently searching for two suspects who fled the scene. Their direction of travel remains unclear. “There are conflicting reports whether it was one or two separate vehicles,” police stated.
Aslam Rana, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Hamilton Centre, was present at the mosque later in the day. He said he visited the location after learning of the incident and had spoken with police officers at the scene.
According to Rana, there was a prayer service underway around 2 p.m., and the altercation reportedly occurred near the mosque’s shoe storage area.

In an interview with CBC Hamilton, he said: “These prayer places should be safe and sound ... everybody should pray safely and go home safely.”
The mosque where the incident took place is one of several serving Hamilton’s diverse Muslim community. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not released further details regarding the identities of those involved.
