Othman Najdeh from Lebanon and Barry Suleiman Abu Bakr from Guinea secured second and third places, respectively, Qatar News Agency reported on Tuesday.
The event, hosted by the Islamic Cultural Center of Rijeka and organized by the Croatian Islamic Community, brought together competitors from 20 countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
It was held in cooperation with Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Holy Quran Competition, with Qatar playing a supporting role in the event’s organization and participation.

The competition is unique in focusing on Quran memorizers over the age of 35, offering them a rare international platform to demonstrate their commitment to the Quran later in life. According to organizers, the goal is to “strengthen the connection to the Holy Quran at all stages of life.”
Following the senior event, the “Generation of the Quran” competition for youth drew around 300 participants from cities across Croatia, accompanied by Quranic recitations, cultural activities, and strong community engagement.
