Sheikh Ali Damoush, head of the Lebanese resistance movement’s Executive Council, made the remark while delivering a sermon to a Muharram mourning ceremony in southern Beirut.
It was held on the fourth night of the lunar Hijri month of Muharram, which is the month of mourning for the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the 680 AD Battle of Karbala.
He said the Husseini discourse is not limited to those who lived during the time of Imam Hussein (AS), but is universal and is addressed to all generations that will ever come.
The conflict between ignorance and Islam did not begin with Ashura and did not end there, but continues and will continue until our awaited Imam Mahdi (May God hasten his glad advent) takes up the banner of monotheism and the banner of Islam and cleanses land of the taint of polytheism, corruption and tyranny, he stated.
Sheikh Damoush emphasized the need to be present in the arenas of jihad and resistance, adhere to divine laws and limits, reject any injustice, tyranny, arrogance, and occupation, and confront the oppressors in all ages.
The cleric said commitment to the option of resistance as one of the instances of adherence to the path of Imam Hussein (AS), and it is especially the case in these days when the Zionist regime is expanding its terrorism and crimes.
He referred to Iran’s recent victory over the Israeli regime after the latter’s aggression on the Islamic Republic, and said Iran’s missile power forced the regime to accept defeat.
The Islamic Republic did not lose its capabilities, did not abandon its nuclear program, and did not allow the enemy to destabilize its system, he stated.
With the support of the Iranian people, the Islamic Republic emerged from the war of aggression more cohesive and united than ever, and this is something that the whole world witnessed, he went on to say.

Sheikh Damoush also referred to the situation in Lebanon and said the continuation and increase of aggression against Lebanon is aimed at exerting pressure on the source of resistance.
“Our response is patience, commitment and greater support for the resistance. Resistance means that Lebanon has all the elements of power so that the country does not end up like Gaza or Syria.”
The enemy’s goal is to exert pressure to push Lebanon onto the path of normalization with the Zionist regime, while this path will only result in the closure and destruction of the country, he concluded.
