Malaysia and Pakistan have reiterated their shared resolve to strengthen solidarity among Muslim nations and uphold the universal values of Islam, while calling for urgent global efforts to end the atrocities in Gaza and counter growing anti-Muslim sentiment.
The commitment was outlined in a joint statement released after talks between Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his Pakistani counterpart Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday. Both leaders emphasized the need for peaceful resolution of global conflicts in line with international law and relevant United Nations (UN) resolutions.
During their meeting, the two leaders reviewed key geopolitical issues, including the wars in West Asia and the humanitarian crisis in Myanmar’s Rakhine State affecting the Rohingya Muslims, according to Bernama.

According to the joint communiqué, “both leaders strongly condemned the ongoing genocide in Gaza and reiterated their unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of a sovereign, viable, contiguous and independent Palestinian state, based on pre-June 1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.”
They also urged an “immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire,” the lifting of the Gaza blockade, and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians. Both premiers commended ongoing international initiatives aimed at achieving full recognition of Palestinian statehood.
Anwar and Shehbaz also jointly condemned all forms of Islamophobia, xenophobia, and religious intolerance, urging the global community to take concrete steps against hate speech and discrimination targeting Muslims.
