According to MuslimsAroundTheWorld, on Sunday, October 19, the Islamic Center of Vienna held the Mosque Open Day, welcoming visitors from all over Austria willing to learn about Islam and witness the daily religious life of Muslims.
The aim of this annual cultural event is to promote mutual understanding, dialogue, and tolerance between religions and cultures.
By opening the doors of the mosque to visitors, the organizers explain the beauty of Islam and the humanistic teachings of the religion to them.
The event was attended by a large number of visitors from various sectors, including ambassadors of countries, representatives of religious institutions, officials from the Austrian government’s religious affairs department, members of the Vienna City Council, as well as neighbors and residents of the area.
The event began with a recitation of verses from the Quran by Sheikh Mohammed Ghalib, one of the congregation’s imams, followed by speeches by Abdullah bin Khalid Al-Tawaleh, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Austria, and Omid (Omit) Worral, president of the official Islamic Association of Austria (IGGÖ), who welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of dialogue, coexistence, and intercultural communication.
Salim Mojskanowicz, one of the congregation’s imams, explained the distinctive architectural style of the center and the meaning of prayer in Islam to the visitors during a tour of the mosque.
The visitors then witnessed the congregational prayer in a respectful and peaceful atmosphere.
The program included a special activity titled “Living Library”, in which Muslim men and women shared their personal stories and experiences with the visitors in a lively and candid conversation about faith and daily life.
