Egypt Awqaf Minister Congratulates Senior Qari on Being Honored in Moscow

IQNA – The Awqaf minister of Egypt hailed the recent honoring of prominent qari Sheikh Abdul Fattah Taruti during the international Quran competition in Moscow.

The Department of Religious Affairs of Muslims in the Russian Federation honored Taruti as the outstanding Quranic figure of the year at the closing ceremony of the 23rd edition of Russia’s international Quran competition due to his rich background, his many efforts in reviving the tradition of Quran recitation, his pursuit of the style and character of prominent Quran reciters, and his relentless efforts in preparing Quran reciters and memorizers at the Taruti Institute for the Training of Qaris.

In a message congratulating Taruti, Usama Al-Azhari appreciated the senior qari’s selfless efforts in serving the Book of God and his pioneering role in teaching and reciting the Holy Quran, and emphasized that this honor is a tribute to Egypt and all Quran reciters and a sign of the high status of Egyptian qaris around the world.

He asked God Almighty to bless Sheikh Taruti’s efforts and reward him abundantly, and to grant all Quran scholars the ability to convey God’s message and spread the light of the Quran throughout the world.

Taruti was born in 1965 in the village of Tarut near the city of Zagazig in Sharqia Governorate.

He started learning the Quran by heart at the age of three and managed to memorize the entire Quran at 8.

A Quran teacher discovered his talent in Quran recitation and taught him the recitation skills.

He also encouraged Taruti to recite the Quran in various programs in the village.

Taruti then went to Zagazig to study at a branch of Al-Azhar and continued improving his Quranic skills by learning from masters like Sheikh Mohammad Al-Lithi, Shahat Anwar and Saeed Abdul Samad.
