Nat’l Quran Recitation Contest Launched in Algeria

IQNA – The 21st edition of Algeria’s national Holy Quran competition got underway on Monday.

Algeria’s Awqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Youcef Belmehdi officially opened the national qualifying rounds for the 21st edition of the Algiers Prize for Quran Recitation and Chanting in the capital Algiers on December 1, 2025.

 

Awqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Youcef Belmehdi officially opened the national qualifying rounds for the 21st edition of the Algiers Prize for Quran Recitation and Chanting in the capital Algiers yesterday.

Held under the patronage of the country’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, this year’s edition brings together nearly 120 participants for the elimination phase, launched by Belmehdi at the Ministry’s headquarters, according to a statement from the ministry.

The competition features three categories, with the qualifying rounds taking place over three days via videoconference, under the supervision of a specialized jury in the rules of recitation and chanting.
