Al-Aqsa Mosque Qari, Muezzin Passes Away

IQNA – The qari and Muezzin (Adhan reciter) of Al-Aqsa Mosque in al-Quds died after a lifetime of worship in the first Qibla of Muslims.

Sheikh Yasser Qalibo, qari and muezzin of Al-Aqsa Mosque in al-Quds, died on December 12, 2025.

 

Sheikh Yasser Qalibo, who had a prominent voice in the call to prayer and recitation of the Quran and was a defender of Al-Aqsa Mosque against the Zionist occupiers, passed away on Friday (December 12), Cairo 24 reported. 

Throughout his life, he was an active presence in Al-Aqsa Mosque and participated in the Quran recitation circles of the holy site.

He was one of the most prominent residents of al-Quds and Palestine who studied at Al-Azhar.

Sheikh Yasser was not just an ordinary muezzin and qari, but was considered one of the prominent religious figures who was linked to the name of Al-Aqsa Mosque, its people and visitors.

He also used to call to recite the Quran and Adhan in a quiet and humble voice in the mosque, and thousands of Palestinian worshippers were accustomed to hearing his voice during prayer times and religious occasions inside Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The reciter and muezzin was known for his constant commitment to Al-Aqsa Mosque, which made him an integral part of the daily religious life of the mosque’s worshippers, despite the difficult conditions and security challenges in the region.

Sheikh Yasser Qalibo was born and raised in an environment where he learned religious sciences. Throughout his life, he participated in religious gatherings, and his presence in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque was an example of his dedication to serving his religion and his community.
