Palestinian activist supporting prisoners passes away
This comes as national circles and Palestinian prisoners’ rights organizations mourned the passing of Haj Muhammad Idris Sharawnah, known as Abu Thaer, who was known for decades for his unwavering support for the cause of prisoners and martyrs and his constant presence at national events and solidarity ceremonies with the resistance throughout the West Bank.

Amjad Al-Najjar, the general director of the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, emphasized that the deceased was a symbol of loyalty to the prisoners and was one of the first to participate in sit-ins and events supporting them, especially in front of the Red Cross offices, and carried with him the Quran, a picture of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the key symbolizing the right of return, and pictures of prisoners and martyrs.

He added that Abu Thaer never missed any national event or funeral ceremony for a martyr from Al-Khalil (Hebron) to Ramallah, and remained steadfast in supporting the prisoners until the last days of his life, believing in the legitimacy of their cause, and dedicating his presence and efforts to their victory.
Al-Najjar said Abu Thaer was known among media people and journalists for his constant and calm presence in the sit-ins, where he would calmly recite the Holy Quran before starting any activity; a scene that has become part of the memory of the national movement in support of prisoners.
