Rally in Yemen’s Sanaa Province Condemns Quran Desecration in US
The demonstration took place on January 5, and was attended by the residents of the region and local officials, al-Thawra website reported.
The participants in the rally expressed their strong anger at the desecration of the Holy Quran and Islamic sanctities by a Republican candidate for the US Senate and considered this action to be an expression of inciting the feelings of Muslims in different parts of the world.
They also announced their readiness to confront the threats facing Yemen and emphasized their steadfastness in defending Palestine and Islamic sanctities.
At the end of the rally, a statement was issued which emphasized the need to adopt a firm global stance in criminalizing insults to sanctities and prosecuting their perpetrators.
It said the United States, Britain, and the Zionist regime are fully responsible for the repeated insults and open hatred and hostility towards Islam and Muslims.
The statement called on the Muslim Ummah to mobilize to support the Book of God and to express its anger and firm opposition to this crime that targeted the most sacred pillar of Islam.

Last month, in a controversial move in Plano, US state of Texas, Florida Republican Senate candidate Jake Lang insulted the Holy Quran, placing a copy of the Holy Book in the mouth of a pig during a demonstration, which angered Muslims, human rights activists, and international observers and caused widespread shock at the domestic and international levels.
In a video published on social media, Lang appeared holding a piglet with a copy of the Quran in its mouth, describing the animal as “the weakness of Islam” and saying: “This is your weakness, Muslims. We will send you back to where you came from, carrying pigs in our hands and Christ in our hearts.”
