Saeed Rahmani, a member of the panel of judges who do the evaluation, told IQNA that the process will end on Friday with the announcement of the names of the selected reciters.
The Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization in Tehran is hosting the panel of judges who watch video files of the recitations by qaris wishing to join the convoy and assess their performance, he noted.
The composition of the panel is in four categories, with two judges for each category, who evaluate the video files received from applicants in the categories of Sawt (voice), Lahn (tone), Waqf and Ibtida, and Tajweed, the Quran expert stated.
He noted that the criterion is not only attention to technical issues and principles, but also matters such as the management of the assembly and the performance of an attractive recitation.
These are among the advantages that are taken into account in the evaluations, while youthfulness is another criterion, and efforts are made to select reciters who have not previously been sent on this spiritual journey (Hajj), Rahmani went on to say.
He said that like previous years, veterans will also be part of the Quranic convoy so that their experience can be fully utilized in order to make the convoy as successful as possible.
Every year millions of Muslims from around the world gather in the Mecca for the annual Hajj.
