IQNA – Thousands of people in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, took part in a march in support of Gaza and Palestine on Saturday.

Thousands of people in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, took part in a march in support of Gaza and Palestine on January 24, 2026.

Organizers said was the largest gathering of its kind in the past three years.

The New Zealand group “Aotearoa for Palestine” said about 50,000 people took part in the “March for Humanity” in central Auckland on Saturday morning, Sky News reported.

Aram Rata, a spokesman for the group, said it was the largest march in New Zealand in support of the Palestinians since the conflict in Gaza began in October 2023.

Local sources reported that many protesters waved Palestinian flags and placards with slogans such as “No to the normalization of genocide”.

Rata said organizers had planned to close the city’s iconic bridge with their own march, following a march that closed the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge in August, but were forced to cancel plans due to strong winds.
