On the occasion of the beginning of Ramadan, the National Library of Albania in Tirana unveiled the Quranic treasure kept among the center’s manuscript collection, the Muslimsaroundtheworld website reported.
This original manuscript of the Holy Quran, which is handwritten in Arabic, is at an exceptional level in terms of the beauty of the calligraphy and the accuracy of the writing.
It shows the special attention paid by the scholars and scribes of that period to the writing of the Quran.
This historical work shows that paying attention to the Holy Quran has always been an inseparable part of the religious and cultural life of the Albanian Muslim community in different historical periods.
One of the outstanding features of this manuscript is the name of the scribe at the end, where it is stated: “Written by Hajj Muhammad Nuri, son of Mustafa Effendi, from the Qoshek neighborhood of Korça.”
The city of Korça in southeastern Albania is considered one of the important cultural and historical centers of the country.
The date inscribed on this manuscript is the year 1328 AH, which coincides with around 1912 AD and the last years of Ottoman rule over Albania; a sensitive period that occurred shortly before the country’s declaration of independence.
The unveiling of this manuscript during the month of Ramadan, known as the “month of the Quran,” carries a symbolic message. The display of this historical document is a manifestation of the deep-rooted Quranic memory among Albanian Muslims and a reminder of the continued presence of the Quran in the religious and cultural conscience of the society.
