Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Javad Haj Ali Ali Akbari made the remark at the opening ceremony of the 33rd edition of the exhibition, held at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer Hall) on Saturday evening.
He said this year’s Quran exhibition is both a respectful act against the insults made to the Quran and a use of the capacity of public diplomacy to confront Islamophobia, Quranophobia and Iranophobia.
He appreciated the founders and organizers of the Quranic event and those contributing to its organization.
The cleric also said, “We have the Quran, and this means that we have the opportunity to look at the universe, man, this world and the hereafter from a divine perspective, a blessing that we should appreciate.”
He went on to say, “God has prepared for us the blessed month of Ramadan, and … the Holy Quran so that our souls and morals are adorned with dignity.”
The interim Friday prayer leader of Tehran said this year’s Quran exhibition is both a declaration of seeking refuge in the Holy Quran and a reminder of the fact that our society has been able to maintain its resilience and not break in crises, under the protection of the Quran.
Referring to acts of Quran desecration in recent riots in Iran, Hojat-ol-Islam Haj Ali Akbari said, “This year's Quran exhibition is, on the one hand, a respectful act against the insults committed against the Quran, and on the other hand, it is considered a use of public diplomacy in confronting Islamophobia, Quranophobia, and Iranophobia. Also, considering the insults committed against mosques, the mosque as the house of the Quran has received more attention than ever before during this edition of the exhibition.”
