Davut Gul announced a plan to launch 100 Quran memorization courses for children aged 4 to 6, as part of a broader program aimed at expanding services for young children and addressing deficiencies in kindergartens and preschools in the city, Turk Press reported.
Gul explained that the courses will be held in cooperation with the Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) and that the nature of the education provided in them is consistent with the curricula approved in kindergartens affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of National Education in terms of educational aspects and the development of basic skills for children.
He added that the government also plans to establish 100 kindergartens and entrust their management to the Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services.
The measures come as an investigation into allegations against one of the kindergartens affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality continues, following complaints from families in the Eyup Sultan district.
