National Tajweed Contest Launched in Algeria

IQNA – The 8th edition of a national competition on Tajweed and recitation of the Quran began in Algeria on Thursday.

The city of Telmecen in Algeria

 

Known as “Qari Telmecen”, it is underway at the Abdul Qadir Alula Cultural Center in Telmecen, according to aps.dz/algerie.

On the first day of the contest, 8 out of the total 12 contenders in the finals recited verses from the Holy Quran.

They were from different provinces of the North African country.

At the opening ceremony, which was attended by the preacher of the Algiers Grand Mosque, Ibtihal recitations were also performed.

A committee of experts in Quran recitation and Tajweed evaluates the performances of the contestants.

The competition will conclude on Friday night with a closing ceremony in which the top winners will be announced and awarded.
