
The Algerian General Organization for Television organized the competition in the holy month of Ramadan, Al-Shorouk reported.
The top three winners of the competition in the 15th edition, which was held internationally, were honored at the closing ceremony.
Abdelrahman Tawash from Tiaret province won the first place in the men's section, while Mohamed Lahibib Zerwaty and Fateh Babou came in second and third, respectively.
In the women's section, Nour El-Huda Issani bagged the top prize, while Asmaa Baltas and Nour El-Huda Messouin came in second and third.
At the ceremony, the winners of the Quran competition for people with special needs, which was organized by the Algerian Ministry of National Solidarity, Family and Women's Affairs and in cooperation with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awqaf, were also honored.
Awqaf Minister Youssef Belmahdi stated in an interview with the media that the participation of a large number of Quran reciters from friendly and brotherly Arab countries was a hallmark of the 15th edition of the Taj al-Quran competition, and this indicates the development of the contest and its transfer from the national to a larger and international event.

He added that Algeria has outstanding Quranic capabilities and successful examples of memorizers of the Book of God, and a number of Taj al-Quran participants have succeeded in achieving brilliant positions in international competitions.
Belmahdi emphasized that such programs reflect the Algerian government's concern for the Quran and Quranic teachings and the care of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for Quranic activities, Quran education, and support for people with special needs.
