IQNA – Just as Prophet Jacob (AS) stipulated that a firm covenant from God be given to him in order to send Benjamin, the emergence of the Savior requires a heavy pledge from the waiting Ummah.

May God hasten the advent of the Savior (AS)

The sons of Prophet Jacob (AS) said to their father: “Why do you not trust us with Joseph? We are his well-wishers.” (Verse 11 of Surah Yusuf)

But they broke their promise in terms of trustworthiness. That is why, when Benjamin was demanded from his father, Prophet Jacob said: “How can I trust you after what happened to his brother before (Joseph)?” (Verse 64 of Surah Yusuf); meaning, what did you do with Joseph (AS) that you demand someone else from me?

This divine Sunnah is also true regarding divine Walis (guardians). When we ask God Almighty for the appearance of the Promised Savior (AS), the question arises: what did you do with the previous Walis, including Imam Hussain (AS), and how did you help them?

Prophet Jacob (AS) made it a condition for sending Benjamin that they give him a firm covenant from God: “He said, ‘I will never send him with you until you swear by Allah that you will bring him back to me.’” (Verse 66 of Surah Yusuf). Today, if the Islamic Ummah is awaiting the appearance of the Savior (AS), then prayers and claims cannot be reliable, but rather they must make a real pledge. The Ummah must pass the test and prove that it is a people of steadfastness.

Just as the patience and courage of the Palestinian and Yemeni peoples were previously revealed to the world, the courage and faith of the Iranian people were also manifested in the International Quds Day march. The people chanted the slogan of Allahu Akbar when the missiles landed, and they were not afraid of anyone other than Allah, and they showed that they would not retreat in defending the promise and values.

The dedication of thousands of martyrs, from combatants on the battlefield to 3-day-old babies, amid the terrifying sounds of bombs raining down on homes, schools, and infrastructure, can be presented as pledges for remaining steadfast until the emergence of the Savior (AS). The people who appear in the squares of the cities every night with prayers and remembrance of the Prophet (PBUH) and his family (AS), may whisper in their hearts, why does divine not help come? If they listen carefully, they will realize that victory is near: “Indeed, the victory of Allah is near” ( Verse 214 of Surah Al-Baqarah).
