Ensuring Correct Quran Printing: Pakistan’s Punjab Reconstitutes Oversight Board

IQNA – In a bid to protect the Holy Quran from printing errors or textual deviations, the Punjab government in Pakistan has reconstituted the provincial Quran Board.

The Punjab government has formally reconstituted the Punjab Quran Board for a period of three years.

 

The Punjab Government reconstituted the Punjab Quran Board for a three-year term, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the sanctity, authenticity and proper publication of the Holy Quran under constitutional, legal and religious guidelines.

Secretary Auqaf and Religious Affairs Punjab, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, said the newly formed board represents the government’s resolve to ensure accurate printing and recording of the Holy Quran while promoting religious harmony among different schools of thought. He added that the inclusion of respected scholars from all major sects reflects unity, mutual respect and a shared sense of responsibility.

According to an official notification issued by the Awqaf and Religious Affairs Department, the government reconstituted the board under Rule 7(3) read with Rule 7(1) of the Punjab Holy Quran (Printing & Recording) Rules, 2011, after receiving approval from the Chief Minister of Punjab and the provincial cabinet.

Renowned religious scholar Maulana Zubair Hassan will serve as Chairman of the Punjab Quran Board for one year. Dr. Bhutta expressed confidence that the board would provide scholarly, legal and religious guidance on issues related to the publication and recording of the Holy Quran.

He also praised the contributions of religious scholars and said the Punjab Government remains committed to strengthening institutions that safeguard the respect and sanctity of the Holy Quran while encouraging unity among various schools of thought.

Officials said the reconstituted Punjab Quran Board will continue working to maintain high standards in the printing and recording of the Holy Quran across the province.
