Sheikh Ahmed al-Safi led the Eid prayers in the city’s Bain al-Haramayn on Saturday, according to Al-Mayadeen.

He called on the free people of the world to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Iran and Lebanon.

Al-Safi said while Eid has the meaning of joy, the hearts of believers are torn apart by what is happening to our brothers and sisters in faith and humanity.

“At a time when we praise God Almighty with gratitude for His blessings, the cries of children rise, the tears of grieving mothers flow, and the flames engulf the homes of innocent civilians in Iran and Lebanon.”

He added, “We condemn this unjust war in the strongest terms and we call on all believers and free people of the world to condemn it and stand in solidarity with the oppressed people of Iran and Lebanon.”

He went on to call on all international institutions and influential nations of the world, especially Islamic countries, to make every effort to stop it.

He continued that faith is action and compassion, “and in these dire circumstances, it is our religious and human duty to extend a helping hand to our suffering brothers and sisters.”

Al-Safi concluded by saying that Eid is an opportunity to renew our covenant with God, forgive one another, strengthen family ties, and care for the poor and needy.

“God’s mercy is vast, His help is near, and His victory is certain,” he stated.
