IQNA – The 1,000-year-old Ganj-e-Shahidan Mosque in Varanasi has become the latest target of what critics describe as a systematic campaign by India’s BJP-led government to erase Muslim history.

A demolition notice for the structure has been issued and the eviction deadline now passed.

The BJP government has demolished more than twenty-three mosques, religious seminaries, Eidgahs, and shrines within a span of forty-five days, according to a report by the Muslim Mirror.

The report highlights that the BJP-led government in India is systematically targeting Muslim religious sites, ranging from the one-thousand-year-old mosque to a two-hundred-year-old shrine.

It further points out that since May, at least twenty religious sites, including mosques, shrines, and madrasas, have been razed.
