In a statement on Saturday, the IRGC Public Relations Department said, “Following the Zionist regime’s ceasefire violation in southern Lebanon, a few hours ago the American regime (that repeatedly breaches commitments), as always, violated its obligations and launched an airstrike on the coast of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the pretext of (Iran) preventing a ship from passing through the Strait of Hormuz via unauthorized routes.”

It added, “In response to this aggression, the IRGC Navy struck the positions of the US terrorist army in the region.”

The statement noted that according to Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (between Iran and the US), the arrangements for controlling traffic in the Strait of Hormuz are for the Islamic Republic of Iran to make.

“However, the US, by inciting various parties, sought to violate this obligation, and the necessary response was given, and this will be the case in the future.”

If aggression is repeated, Iran’s response will be more extensive, the IRGC emphasized.
