Organized by South Africa's Quran Union, the contest is held in the categories of Quran recitals (for men only) and Quranic research.
It will also include a section called "Servants of the Holy Quran Award".
The event will culminate with programs by renowned Quranic scholars and reciters from various countries.
According to its website, the South African Quran Union is a non governmental organization that focuses on developing Muslims by imparting essential knowledge regarding the various disciplines of Quranic Knowledge.
South Africa is home to around 1 million Muslims, roughly 2% of the population.
