Hollywood is a tool in the hands of Zionism and Imperialism used to move forward their agenda, said Mohammad Al-Asi, former prayer leader of Washington.
He made the remark in an address to the third international conference of Hollywoodism in Tehran, adding that Hollywood spreads corruption and evil and is a complex military- industrial mechanism for the imperialists.
“For some, Holywood has a hypnotism power, for some it is a guide and for others it has become an addiction,” Al-Asi said, highlighting the power of Hollywood.
He pointed to the recent surge in armed crimes against US citizens, especially in schools, saying that even if Hollywood is not the reason behind these crimes, it has at least contributed to these kinds of violence.
“However, everyone has remained silent in the face of this fact as if Hollywood has cast a spell on them by its glitters.”
He said Hollywood has produced millions of works about war and bloodshed and killing human beings, but because of the influence of this magic wand, no one dares to speak out against it and say that it is Hollywood that spreads hatred and war.
“I hope we will unlock our hearts and minds and stand up against this lethal poison, i.e. Hollywood.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Mohammad Al-Asi described the Islamic Republic of Iran as a country that is against the occupation of the Holy land and pursues implementation of justice in the world.
The third international conference of Hollywoodism is being held in Tehran concurrent with the 31st Fajr International Film Festival. At the conference, cinema activists, artists and experts from Iran and other countries discuss themes like ‘the purpose behind production of anti-Iran and anti-Islam films”, “ways for confronting the cinema of domination”, and “Hollywood and Zionism”.
Mohammad Al-Asi is the former prayer leader of the Islamic Center of Washington. He is a graduate of Arabic language and literature in Beirut’s Arab University and presents Islamic subjects in universities in the US, Canada and Europe.
