A total of 200 participants are expected to compete for honors at the 17th National Quranic Recitation Competition in Nigeria.
Dr Nuhu Tajuddeen, an organizer, said at a news briefing on Tuesday in Zaria that the competition would be held from Sept. 7 to Sept. 14 in Kaduna.
“Despite the fact that the annual competition had been consistently going on in Nigeria hosted by different states, this is the first time Kaduna is hosting it.
“Over 200 competitors are expected from all over Nigeria and even from neighboring countries.”
Tajuddeen said the national competition was preceded by series of competitions at ward, local government and state levels.
“The competitors are winners who underwent chains of competitions from the grassroots and became winners in different states of the federation.
“They will compete with one another in different categories and national winners will emerge; the winners will eventually represent Nigeria at world competitions.”
He solicited the support of Muslims towards the success of the event, and appealed to security agencies in the state to give the competition the desired support to ensure its successful conduct.
The chairman advised Muslims to train their children in the ways of Allah to ensure that they become better and responsible citizens.
