TEHRAAN (IQNA) - A new video released by a British Muslim advocacy group has urged Muslims to go out and vote in May 7 general elections, offering an explanation why they should participate in polls.

The short animation video was released a week ago at YouTube by Muslim Engagement & Development (MEND) group, On Islam reported.
Muslims in the UK are said to be facing an increase in Islamophobia, job discrimination hence pushing them to look for what experts describe as an alternative.
Experts say British Muslims have become increasingly disenfranchised with mainstream parties.
This was evident in 2012, in Bradford's by-election, when George Galloway from the Respect party, scored a landslide victory by taking a Labour safe seat in Bradford West.
Growing wary of politicians, Muslims are more interested in figuring out which prime minister hopeful will tackle rising Islamophobia, letting fears rather than reason do the political talking.
The video comes as many anti-voting posters, which urge Muslims to boycott next weeks' election, were seen in several British cities over the past weeks.
UK Muslims have vehemently condemned the “Don't Vote” lamp posts as a “misguided” act that attempts to bully their community into withdrawing from democracy.
