TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 18th edition of the national Quran competition of Palestine began in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Sunday.


According to Palestinian press agency, the Awqaf Ministry of the Palestinian Authority has organized the event, named al-Aqsa Quran Contest, in Ramallah.

The first round of the competition is being held in different parts of the West Bank with the participation of 800 men and women, Palestinian Awqaf Minister Yusuf Adeis said.

He added that the top contenders in the first round will make it to the final stage.

They compete in three categories, namely memorization of the entire Quran along with Tafseer (interpretation) of Surah Isra, memorization of 20 Juzes and memorization of 10 Juzes of the Quran, he added.

The previous edition of the Quranic event was held in 2017 in four categories.
