TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) said it is accepting applications for the 5th edition of the Quran competition for women.

Ibrahim Bu Milha, adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and chairman of the DIHQA organizing committee, said the contest, named Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Holy Quran Competition, is among the DIHQA’s main programs, Al-Bayan reported.

He said holding the fifth edition of the competition had been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, with the successful organization of the competition for men in the holy month of Ramadan, the committee decided to hold the contest for women as well, he added.

According to the official, women who are officially introduced by their respective country or have UAE residence and can represent their country will be able to take part in the Quranic event.

He said the participants should be 25 years old or younger and be memorizer of the entire Quran with mastery over the rules of Tajweed.

The deadline for registration s September 15, Bu Melha, said, adding that those willing to attend the competition can register via the website info@quran.gov.ae.

In the last edition, held in 2019, 8-year-old Zeinab Feyzi represented Iran at the competition but did not win any titles.
