Winners of Iraqi Students’ Quranic Contest Announced

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The closing ceremony of the 7th edition of the Quran contest for Iraqi university students was held on Sunday night at the Grand Mosque of Kufa.

 

In the memorization category, Muhammad Akram Nais from Wasit University claimed first place. Hassan Abdul Redha Abdullah and Muhammad Talib Mohsen stood next.

In the recitation category, Hassan Alaa from the University of Babylon won the title and Moamal Riyad Hassan and Muhammad Shawi Mahbash claimed the next ranks.

Addressing the event, the head of religious affairs of the Grand Mosque of Kufa Shiekh Hadi Zangil called for clinging to the teachings of the Holy Quran.

Pointing to the life of Hazrat Zeynab (SA), he said that according to historians, she had been holding sessions on the Quran contemplation in her home in Kufa.

Among the aims of the mosque, he continued, are holding various Quranic contests and boosting the relation of students with their religious identity.

Whenever Muslims approached the Holy Qur'an, they were honored, and whenever they turned away from it, they fell into humiliation, he said.
