WFPIST Chief, Pakistani Official Discuss Bilateral Cooperation, Regional Developments

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) met Pakistan’s minister of religious affairs in Islamabad.

Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari and his accompanying delegation have traveled to Pakistan for talks with religious and political figures of the country.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed mutual cooperation, regional developments and the Muslim world’s issues, especially the issue of Palestine.

Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, the Pakistani minister, welcomed the delegation and hailed the WFPIST for its efforts to promote cooperation among Muslim scholars and enhance unity among Muslim nations.

He also stressed Pakistan’s commitment to boosting ties with Iran in different areas, exchange of religious delegations, and helping Pakistanis’ pilgrimage trips to Iran’s holy sites.

Hojat-ol-Islam Shahriari is accompanied by Malawi Nazir Ahmad Salami, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, in his visit to Pakistan.

Earlier in the day, he also held talks with Pakistan’s top Shia cleric Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi and other Shia scholars.

He is also slated to travel to Lahore and Karachi during his stay in Pakistan.
