Cleric Names Unity as Sole Weapon for Confronting Anti-Muslim Plots
Unity is the only weapon for confronting the plots against Islam, Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari said while addressing a conference on Islamic unity in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on Monday.
“If Westerners can form unions such as the European Union, why cannot Muslims do the same?” he framed.
Muslims should forget their differences because the sole approach to success is going away from problems and differences, added the scholar.
“With a strong unity and avoidance of confrontation, we will be able to establish the union of Islamic countries,” he said, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran is implementing persistent efforts to promote unity among Muslims.
A host of other Muslim scholars of Pakistan also addressed the conference.
Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari arrived in Islamabad on Sunday morning for talks with Pakistan’s Muslim leaders and religious figures.
The cleric will also take part in a number of conferences and forums in Pakistan.
He is accompanied by Malawi Nazir Ahmad Salami, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, on the trip.
During their stay in Pakistan, they will also visit Lahore and Karachi, according to IRIB News.
Established in 1990, the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought works for reconciliation among different Islamic schools of thought and branches. It annually holds international conferences in the Islamic Unity Week.
