Hamas, Palestinian Scholars Association Offer Condolences on Death of Sheikh Al-Khaledi

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas condoled the demise of senior Quranic scholar Sheikh Salah Abdul Fattah al-Khaledi.

Hamas said in a statement that the Muslim Ummah, the Palestinian nation, and Jordan, where Sheikh al-Khaeldi spent much of his life, have lost one of their brilliant figures, Palinfo.com reported.

The resistance movement noted that the issue of Palestine was always a prominent topic in his speeches, books and writings.

The Palestinian Scholars Association also expressed condolences to the Muslim Ummah and the Palestinian nation on the death of the eminent figure, who was one of its members.

In a message on Saturday, the association described him as a great Quran interpreter, preacher and teacher who wrote many valuable books.

Al-Khaledi died of the coronavirus on Friday at age 74.

Born in Jenin, Palestine, in December 1947, he began seeking knowledge by obtaining a scholarship for Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic University in 1965.

There, he attended Al-Azhar secondary school, then entered the Sharia college and graduated from it in 1970.

He then studied a master’s degree in 1977 at Imam Muhammad University in Riyadh, and the thesis he presented was entitled “Sayyid Qutb and Artistic Painting in the Quran”.

Al-Khaledi obtained a doctorate degree in interpretation and Quranic sciences in 1984 from the same university, and his thesis was entitled “In the shadows of the Quran”.

He wrote numerous books on Quran interpretation and in some of them has discussed the Quran’s scientific miracles.

“Sayyid Qutb: The Living Martyr”, “Corrections in Understanding Some Verses”, “The Jewish Personality through the Quran: History, Traits and Fate”, “Keys to Dealing with the Quran” and “Quranic facts about the Palestinian cause” are the titles of some of his books.
