TEHRAN (IQNA) – A total of six artworks were created during the four nights of the final stage of 38th Iran’s international Quran competitions.

Calligrapher Mahdi Moharramzadeh and painter Mohammad Hossein Saedi were the two artists that started producing artworks from the first night of the event.

The competitions officially started on Monday and will wrap up tonight in Tehran.

Artistic works with the theme of Quran and religion are being made from the day one of the competitions, Moharramzadeh told IQNA

“During four days of the event, six works were created including calligraphy of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) name, verse 1 of Surah Al-Alaq and paintings of Abdul Basit and Martyr Soleimani.”

These works will be presented to Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, he said, adding that this is a symbolic action that can further encourage artists.

This is the first time that artworks are being produced during Quranic competitions, he noted.

He called for increased attention to the art of calligraphy, noting that dedicating time and space to this art on the sidelines of religious events can further promote calligraphy in society.
