Draw Ceremony Held for Iran’s Nat’l Quran Competition

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The draw ceremony for the preliminary stage of Iran’s 45th international Quran competition was held on Saturday.

A number of Quranic officials, including Head of the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Hamid Majidimehr attended the ceremony.

It randomly decided the turn for every participant’s recorded performance to be played for the panel of judges to assess their qualifications.  

The preliminary stage will be organized virtually, with the contenders in different categories either recording their recitation and submitting the file or answering the questions of the panel of judges online.

The categories include Quran recitation, Tarteel, memorization of the entire Quran and memorization of 20 Juzes (parts) of the Quran.

The headquarters of the Supreme Quran Council here in Tehran will host the panel of judges in the preliminary round on November 8-21.

Winners will make it to the finals, slated to be organized in person in the southwestern province of Khuzestan in January.

 The Islamic Republic of Iran’s National Quran Competition is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of top Quran activists from across the country.

It is aimed at discovering Quranic talents and promoting Quranic activities in society.
