Qaris, Memorizers Begin Showcasing Their Talents in Iran Nat’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Contenders began showcasing their talents in the final round of the 45th edition of Iran’s National Holy Quran Competition Friday.

The morning session featured competitions in memorization of the entire Quran. Saeed Aliakbari from Qazvin Province was the first one to answer the questions of the panel of arbiters.

Other contestants whose turn came on the first day were from the provinces of Golestan, Mazandaran and Gilan.

In the afternoon session, contenders the recitation category began vying for the top prize, with those from the provinces of Tehran and Razavi Khorasan being among the favorites.

Tarteel and memorization of 20 Juzes of the Quran are the other categories of the Quranic event.

The final round of the competition had been official lunched in a ceremony in Ahvaz, the capital of southwestern province of Khuzetsan, on Thursday.

This is the first time in the history of the contest in which the judgment process is implemented digitally.

The competition is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of top Quran activists from across the country.

It is aimed at discovering Quranic talents and promoting Quranic activities in society.
