TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Deputy Secretary General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah says the first step for realization of the Muslim unity is to stay away from enemies’ bloc.

37th Islamic Unity Conference

Sheikh Naim Qassem made the remarks while addressing the opening ceremony of 37thInternational Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran on Sunday.

“We must emphasize the high Islamic values in our meetings and use the media to promote Islamic discourse to confront those who promote homosexuality and materialism and pursue a soft war against Muslims,” Taqrib News Agency quoted him as saying.

“The basic step towards the Islamic unity is to avoid siding with the enemy bloc; abd rather, stand together and cooperate in all relationships.”

Stressing the issue of Palestine, Sheikh Qassim said, “We must announce that Israeli occupation of Palestine means occupation of all Islamic lands, therefore, everyone must stand against the Zionist enemy.”

“We must work to strengthen and consolidate the resistance of the Palestinian people”, he said, adding, “We must set the experience of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a role model in supporting the oppressed of the world.”

He noted that the experience of Lebanon's resistance in 2000 and 2006 against the Zionist regime can be a model for resistance in the future.

Sheikh Naeem Qassem applauded the resumption of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia and emphasized that this relationship can bring positive results. He pointed out that the cooperation between these two important countries in the region can lead to destruction of extremist movements.

The 37th Islamic Unity Conference is underway in the capital Tehran as a number of Shia and Sunni scholars attend the webinars and the meeting to be held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

This year the elites and religious figures attending the event discuss the theme “Islamic Cooperation to Achieve Common Values.”
