IQNA – An old woman in Iraq made a Waqf (endowment), donating her house for Quran teaching activities.

A woman in Iraq’s Al Amarah made a Waqf (endowment), donating her house for Quran teaching activities.

Umm Wassam, 70, lives in the city of Al Amarah in Iraq’s Meysan Governorate, according to Al Jazeera.

Despite her limited financial resources, she donated her house to a Quran institute after it was built so that it would serve as a Quran school.

Umm Wassam, her son and his family of 7 live in a small two-room house but this did not prevent her from making the Waqf.

Other members of the family also supported her in making the decision.

The idea occurred to her after her son talked to him about the Quranic Society of Al Amarah and a lack of space in a nearby mosque for holding Quranic classes.

Sajjad Mansour, the head of the Quranic society, hailed the move and praised the role of those who make donations to promote the teaching of the Quran in the region.

He also highlighted the achievements made by the society in Quranic fields, including the winning of an international Quran competition in India by one of the students of the society.
