Number of Quranic Circles, Courses Growing in Iraq

IQNA – Iraq’s Awqaf ministry has reported a significant increase in the number of Quranic circles and Quran courses in the country this summer.

It said mosques in the capital Baghdad and other cities have hosted a large number of Quranic programs since the start of the summer. 

The programs include courses offering lessons on Quran recitation, memorization and Tajweed, the ministry noted.

It also highlighted the organization of Quran competitions at the national and international levels, establishment of Quranic centers, and printing and distributing Qurans as part of the activities of the ministry in the Quranic fields.

The Awqaf ministry also unveiled plans for reviving the special Iraqi style of recitation and Quranic calligraphy.

Quranic activities have considerably developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
