Karbala Shrine Hosting Educational Khatm Quran Program in Ramadan

IQNA – A Khatm Quran (reading the Quran from beginning to end) program is underway in the holy shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala, Iraq.

The Quran Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine is holding the Quranic program.

It is held after the noon prayers every day during the holy of month of Ramadan, Sheikh Ali al-Ruwayei, an official with the center said.

This Quranic program is for men, women, and youth, aimed at focusing on the facts and details of the Quranic teachings and improving the recitation of its verses.

The center has also organized other special Quran recitations at the holy shrine during the month of Ramadan with the goal of promoting Quranic knowledge and nurturing a vibrant Quranic community.

Ramadan is the ninth and most sacred month of the Islamic calendar, in which Muslims commemorate the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from eating, drinking, and smoking.

They also devote more time to prayer, charity and good deeds, seeking to strengthen their faith and purify their souls.

One of the practices of Ramadan is to recite and study the Quran with some Muslims completing the reading of the entire Quran during the month.
